This is a beginner's workshop where gardeners bring in a sample of their own garden soil and we work together to discover its qualities and needs for the new growing season. We will demystify the basics of at home and mail in soil tests. The workshop will take a sample of soil that you bring in and we will go through several hands-on tests together - like a soil texture jar and pH, for example. These tests and other information will help you get a better idea of what you have at home. The optional take-home Soil Savvy test can be assembled and ready to drop into the mailbox.

Tuesday, April 29th 6-8 pm

Let's overcome the overwhelm of seed and plant choices and plan a garden that will get you the meals you want when you want them. I will share tips and tricks I have learned from years of gardening with fresh eating, preserving, and creating pantry staples in mind. Coming in right around our region's last frost date, there is still plenty of time to get started with or re-inspire your home garden!

Paint for the Paddle: Community Crafting for the Canoe Journey

Saturday, June 14th 5-8 pm

Help us welcome thousands of paddlers arriving this summer for the Canoe Journey, hosted by the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe. We’ll be offering free wood ornament painting – a hands-on, all-ages activity where you can create a personal gift to be shared with visitors as part of a traditional welcome.

💧 What to expect: • Paint your own wood ornament using provided supplies • Leave a message of welcome or blessing on the back • Ornaments will be collected and delivered to the Tribe as part of the larger community gift effort. Let’s fill the waterfront with color, care, and connection this summer – starting right here downtown.
